Food Price Crisis Hits America’s Poor

A United Nations report issued last month said global food prices will ease from recent record highs because of good grain harvests. But it predicted prices are unlikely to go back to pre-2007 levels, which is grim news for those who cannot afford to eat and others who seek to feed the hungry. While the world food crisis is most acute in the world’s least developed nations, the elevated costs of staple foodstuffs and fuel are also hitting America’s poor. The evidence can be seen on the shelves of a large warehouse, used to feed the impoverished in the eastern state of Maryland. That is where VOA’s Malcolm Brown reports.

Fake inflation of basic items of everyday life is being created, but the human life for which all this is being done seems to be of no price or having no value. Daily hundred thousands of human beings are losing life by different ways. Isnt it possible by United Nations, G-8 or some International Human Rights Commission to work out a formula of basic human rights & needs of life & implement it to end this situation of chaos ending in extremism or terrorism by unaccountable no of ways nowadays?

Many people are over weight because they cannot afford the healthier foods. They buy cheap food which is high in calories and starch, sugar, etc. I once felt the same way when I saw an overweight person. I was wrong. Sorry ’bout dat.

WHY ARE ALL THESE POOR PEOPLE SO FAT?
Some will say it’s because they have a poor diet. I see people on food stamps who’s cart is loaded with porterhouse and T-bone steaks, baby back ribs, chips and dip, Ho-Ho’s, soda, candy, ice cream, cool whip and pie, but no or little fruits and veges! Then they whip out a 50 to pay for all their booze and cigarettes. For the most part poor people on food stamps are fat by choice. I see plenty of fruits/veges in this supply house, folks just don’t eat them.

USA has the richest “poor” people in the world. Our “poor” have nose rings, tattoos, cell phones, the latest hairstyles, jewelry, autos, etc. They deal drugs and prostitute on the side for extra cash.

~*~During the Great Depression many people would have starved if it wasnt for fruit trees, there is no reason why we cant all work together and plant fruit trees, EVERY single Chruch in the world should have fruit trees on its property to help feed the less fortunate~*~

Woe to those who call evil good, thats what we’ve done. We’ve lost & reversed R values. We exploited the poor & called it the lottery. We reward laziness & called it welfare/foodstamps. We neglecte to discipline R children & called it building self esteem. We abuse powew & call it politics. We pollut the air with profanity & pornography & called it freedom of expression. We ridiculed values of R forefathers & called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, Set us free !

I used to donate to food & clothing to the poor all the time. Now I can’t even let go of a can of baked beans because it’s one of the very few food in my home. Coupons don’t help anymore-the “cents off” amounts have not changed yet food prices have risen. I have found myself at the local food pentry with my young son & it’s humiliating, I dont want help I want to be the one who HELPS but I can’t do that any longer. My husband & I both work but don’t qualify for any type of welfare.

I saw the same thing at the Salvation Army I get my food at, their choices aren’t the most healthy but when you have no food in your home & you’re hungry you’ll take anything. They gave me old expired bread which turned moldy in a few days but when you have nothing that bread is a godsend. The only thing I didn’t eat was the half defrosted meat they gave me, that scared me a little & I wasn’t willing to get sick over it.
