Swiss secret service alerts CIA, MI6 over huge data theft

The Swiss intelligence agency (NDB) has warned US and UK spy agencies over a massive leak of classified data. The warning came after Swiss authorities arrested a senior IT employee suspected of stealing the data. Intelligence services the CIA and MI6 routinely share secret counter-terrorism data with the NDB. According to Reuters, “the suspect worked for NDB for eight years who is senior enough to have administrator rights to get access to most classified data. He downloaded terabytes of secret information from NDB’s servers onto portable devices and carried them out of the building in a backpack. The Swiss authorities worried the data shared by US and UK might at risk of being sold to other foreign countries before the suspect arrest.” SOURCE: Reuters
