In which I review the only Bond film to star Georg Lazenby.

they should have kept lazenby instead of dalton
I definitely agree with what you say about this being the best Bond film and Lazenby being the worst Bond.
Interestingly, this is Chris Nolan’s favorite bond film.
It’s a lot of people’s favorites. Bruce Tim has said it’s his favorite and that he based his version of Lex Luthor on Blofeld in this film. Fraction’s talked about it being his favorite too. It’s a well loved movie by a lot of people.
Cool, didn’t know that.
what is so bad about this?
I can agree that this film is kind of slow (it’s also very long), but it is probably one of the best Bond films. I think people who are fans of the series and have seen all of the films have an easier time appreciating and liking this film. I believe that the people who don’t like this film are the type of people who don’t have a deep knowledge of the films. It’s kind of hard to explain.
I myself really love this film. The film ends on such a down note which I think really gives this Bond film an emotional weight that many of the other films completely lack.
Have you ever seen Operation Double 007 AKA Operation Kid Brother AKA OK Connery? It’s a fascinating and weird footnote to the Bond universe.
I currently am reading the book and am excited to see the film version
havent seen this one
I don’t think it’s a terrible film necessarily, but I find Lazenby’s Bond worse than terrible. He’s a fellow Australian, and even I have never seen him again… except to play Jor-El in the Superboy TV series. LOL!
To be fair, he wasn’t an actor, and he does try hard, and you’re right in saying he COULD have gotten better…. but I would never hire a model to play the greatest male role in film history. For that reason, this is the Bond film that I simply can not put myself though.
You should really, really review this one 1955 thriller that’s considered a classic, “The Night of the Hunter.” I figure since you’ve been able to start reviewing these Bond movies from its earlier days to now, I think you should watch NoTH and really make a review on it, give your thoughts on its style and execution and probable influence on future films, all that kind of stuff. It’d be so great.
I actually prefer Lazenby over both Moore and Brosnan.
@blowshimselfupdude
If you want a serious Roger Moore, not bizarro-comedy Moore, watch “For Your Eyes Only”. Great picture, really. Among the best of the series? No, but good.
It does make you wonder why Cubby Brocoli and Harry Saltzman chose a model as opposed to an actor? In fact Timothy Dalton was asked to do a screen test!
Hey, blowshimselfupdude, could you do a first thoughts video on M.C.R.’s “Conventional Weapons?” It’s their new album.
