Arrested Green Party VP nominee Cheri Honkala describes her detention by Secret Service

On Tuesday, President Obama and Governor Mitt Romney went head-to-head in the second of three debates en route to Election Day. The debate was analyzed and talked about by the mainstream media, but what wasn’t talked about was how two third party candidates were arrested just outside the venue. Cheri Honkala, the vice-presidential nominee for the Green Party, speaks out about how she was detained for eight hours by the Secret Service and what her charges were. The only way out of this is civil law. Democracy doesn’t work.

  2. Twostones00 says:

    What ever that means?

  3. FedupwithR says:

They are about everything that the criminal elite don’t want. I think both America and Europe need outside help because our corrupt politicians have sold us to the International Financial/Military complex run by Rockefeller and his ilk to further enslave us. They control the Media everywhere so fail to report these arrests or the banning of Iranian PressTV in Europe. If this isn’t Fascism what is it?.

Our entire system is held together with borrowed duct tape.

Those of the right & idiot’s who think USA has had Democracy tend to say mob rule no nation of law etc under real Democracy. What kind of proof will you MAKE-UP to support that, Cause I know of NO True citizen Democracy that exist. Going back the the Athenians which was a gender bias unfair form. Some do claim the Swiss have people power over their natiion yet it’s still a Republic with 26 kantons each with their own constitutions & a federal 1 exist. Laws are generated & passed by citizens only

  6. ArmednSafe says:

Just so we are perfectly clear, what is your definition of democracy? Remember, for your definition to be usable in an objective sense, it must have testable elements that can be empirically verified.

  7. ArmednSafe says:

“Rule and control by the people” is vague and can be interpreted may ways. It could mean anarchy. If the people rule themselves, then they have no rulers. As in, each individual is sovereign and free from coercion. If it means the majority can vote themselves whatever they want, then it certainly carries a contradiction because the minority is ruled by the majority. If it means the people can elect a ruler, then it is not rule and control by the people either.

    Welcome to the police state!

  9. mulabate says:

There is only 1 correct definition of the Greek word Democracy, which I’ve already stated to you in a previous comment! Why didn’t you heed the definition at that point are you sane, lazy or just incompetant?
I should NOT have to repeat myself & your rapport with me is at an end. Demos=The People Kratos=Rule Democracy= The people rule! When you build on Democracy you/the people don’t forfiet their shared sole legal position of legislative rule & control plus ownership over money,busi/govt.

Good luck, may you die swifly and with little pain…, I couldn’t wish you anything better.

  11. 98bigbutt says:

They arrest peaceful demonstrators like them and not the real criminals in Wall Street. Hypocritical assholes.

  12. 98bigbutt says:

Goes back to George Carlin’s reason why he doesn’t vote. 1. It’s meaningless, the US was bought, sold for and paid for a long time ago. It doesn’t mean a thing. 2. If you vote, you’ve no right to complain.

  13. TraceOfConsciousness says:

    damn…didn’t hear about this

  14. TraceOfConsciousness says:

    where’s this trial, protest needed

  15. pikkkel says:

    plutocracy

  16. pikkkel says:

pain is looking at this shit everyday. “if you could flick a switch and open your third eye, you’d see that we should never be afraid to die.” “Those who will not die for something, don’t deserve to lvie for anything. “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

  17. BillofRightsBrutus says:

It’s fascism with respect to the most basic variable in ANY constitutional, representative, democratic republic. It’s as fundamental to the Constitution and governance as due process, equal protection, and habeas are to life, liberty, and property. You can wrap it up in shiny paper, put a bow on it, and call it whatever you want, but it’s fraudulent, illusory, and meaningless. It’s graft, it’s a sham, it’s a corrupt con game; bought and paid for sold out government. No representation at all.

  18. Apryl Whipple says:

What alternative do you prefer? I’m not being defensive, I’m genuinely curious what you think.

DIRECT Democracy appeals to me. We can get back to that, as a nation, if we come together and give a shit for once.

  19. Apryl Whipple says:

I’m actually proud to vote for candidates who went to jail.

When a politician is locked up, you know it’s when they’re doing something good for the people.

    Stein/Honkala, 2012!

  20. ArmednSafe says:

I prefer complete self ownership, no rulers, anarchy, voluntarism… whatever you want to call it. We don’t need violence. It is still wrong, no matter how many people want to do it.

  21. kennegun says:

Thats why there is a constitution.

  22. ArmednSafe says:

Yeah, they don’t really follow that.
